The photo below shows you what an open toe foot looks like. To set up your machine, you will need your top thread to match the border fabric and your bobbin thread to match the binding fabric. I use the French double fold method and I cut my binding 2 1/2″. I talk about things like how to determine the seam allowance, how to miter the corners, and a simple way to turn your binding into one continuous piece. If you need some pointers on doing the initial application by machine, you can see this tutorial and this tutorial. I prefer doing it by hand using this method, but machine works in a pinch. If you want to see how I quilted the other Let It Snow quilts, you can hop over to this post.įor the binding, I decided to do it all by machine. I did loops in the border, but with the busy print, you can only see them from the back. I chose to meander the background and a free-hand design in the trees. I finished up the quilting with the use of a few simple designs. I will keep you posted on when the kits and yardage arrives. It’s the final wrap up for the Let It Snow QAL! That’s all I have made so far with these fabrics, but I am working on more! I also can’t wait to see what all you make using this line. This runner pattern is available now and can be found in our Trendy Table 3 book. Lastly, we have our Easy Peasy runner made with a 5″ stacker of the Snowed In collection. We will be offering the following free pattern to go with the panel. This fabric line also comes with a panel. We will offer kits with both the aqua version shown above and the white background shown below. That book is out of print, so it is now only available as a PDF book or PDF single pattern. This pattern was originally available in our Angles With Ease 2 book. This kit will be offered in one of Riley Blakes a keepsake boxes and includes the pattern. This pattern can be found in our Trendy Table 3 book (available now), as a single pattern (available next month) or in the kit mentioned below. You can preorder this kit here, but again they will only be available as long as I can get more fabric. It’s Fat Quarter friendly and uses the Creative Grids 60-degree triangle ruler. It’s an oversized snowflake block and it makes for a very dramatic wall or lap quilt! This pattern will also be available next month. You leave me a comment to be entered into the Sew Along or send me an email to sign up! I would love to have you join us. We will start on June 17th and it will run through August 19th. I am also going to be hosting a Sew Along for this quilt. The preorders are due shortly, so if you want to make sure that you get one, you will want to commit sooner than later! There may be more available later, but it all depends on if I will be able to get more fabric. I am taking preorders for those that would like a kit of this sampler. This pattern will be available next month. My favorite is the Snowed In Sampler below. I also have a set of patterns to go with the collection. This Fat Quarter pack is available for preorder here. Here’s a closer look at those prints – a mix of winter motifs, florals, dots, plaids, and a touch of the holidays. In Minnesota, being snowed in can be one of the best things – you can’t get out so no going to work or activities. Now I can’t wait to get “Snowed In” this winter with a pile of this fabric and create quilts for my home. The combination is fresh, yet warm and inviting. It’s easy to see that all of these things inspired the different prints in this fabric collection. I like to mix in pine boughs, red berries, snowmen, and trees – anything to make my home warm and cozy during the long winter. I watch them all season and they just make me happy! My love of snowflakes has led me to collect a few other complimentary winter decorations. As soon as the first snowflakes start to fly, I hang my collection of hand-cut paper snowflakes around the house. I live in Minnesota, where we have winter for about 5 months out of the year. If you follow me on any of my other social media channels, you have already seen it, but I thought I would share it here too for those that haven’t! It was fun to see so many of you still here, even though I took such a long blog break! To get you caught up on what I’ve been doing, I have a fabric line to share that will be coming out in May. As I mentioned in my last post, I’m behind on sharing my new things with my blog readers.
